Biometric Couture is a digital clothing concept that brings together online and offline identities. Scanning the clothing generates a digital layer of augmented reality, of which the person wearing the clothing is the author. This digital layer can be filled in according to the customer’s wishes and can be updated indefinitely. Clothing allows us to communicate our identity, and technology can play a role in facilitating this.
Clothing allows us to express our identity. As an intermediary between people and their environments, clothing becomes a medium that influences how we respond to others, and how they respond to us. This identity is no longer limited to taking place inside and upon our bodies. The youngest generations see technology as a natural part of their living environment. They experience the digital world as an extension of everyday life, a place where it’s easy to make contacts and communicate an identity.
A world in which, as soon as we’re online for even a few seconds, we become unaware of the people around us. Imagine what it would be like if there were no longer any boundaries between the online and offline dimensions; if we could make contact offline as easily as online; if the stranger in the train could turn out to have the same hobbies as you, or share the same opinions, or be your ideal co-worker. Look at the people around you. Discover their stories, their interests, their passions.
